Designed to provide comparable insight on a company's biodiversity footprint, BioFootprint Biodiversity Footprint analytics use lifecycle impact models to understand the footprint across both aggregated and distinct drivers of biodiversity loss. Measured in potentially disappeared fraction (PDF) of species, the metric can be used to evaluate the biodiversity footprint of a company, and compare normalised intensity metrics per dollar of revenue.
This methodology uses life cycle analysis models to evaluate the biodiversity footprint of the products and services created and used by a company from raw material usage to end of life, and to evaluate this impact on ecosystem health.
Seven dimensions of impact can be shown representing the drivers of biodiversity loss:
Climate change
Photochemical Ozone Creation
Acidification
Land use
Ecosystem Toxicity
Eutrophication
Water stress
